Alpaca Tracks Workshops
We offer scheduled and on-demand hands-on craft workshops at our shop in Merrickville (318 St. Lawrence St. Merrickville, ON). Please note classes are non-refundable and cannot be re-scheduled or transferred to another class. Our facilitators customize, purchase and prepare the materials for each participant in advance. If you would like to send someone else in your place, we will need you to provide their name and email address 24 hours before the class scheduled time.

Beginner Water Colour Series
Discover a gentle, beginner-friendly introduction to watercolour. Over four relaxed mornings, you’ll learn foundational techniques, explore colour and water, and create simple finished pieces in a supportive, playful atmosphere.
Included Materials: Professional 100% cotton paper, a quality brush, and a curated take-home palette of artist-grade paints — everything you need to enjoy watercolour at its best.
Bring: A spirit of play — mistakes are part of the magic.

Wet Felted Wool Lampshade
In this workshop, you will be using various types of wool and embellishment fibres to create a piece of fabric using a traditional age-old technique called wet felting. You will be given lots of options for materials to create a design that is meaningful to you. Once your piece of fabric is made, we will turn it into a lampshade that will give off a soft diffused light.
All felting materials and a lamp with a drum lampshade (diameter of 8 inches) are included in the price. You will leave with a finished lamp.

Pretty in Red (A Needle Felting Workshop)
Blue Barn Stitchery is pleased to offer you this needle felting workshop called “Pretty in Red”. Workshop will run from 11-4 with a short break for lunch. Please feel free to bring a lunch.
Catherine will guide participants (beginners welcome) as they “paint” with wool onto a 5x7 felt background. Drawn image backgrounds will be prepared in advance by the instructor.
Students will learn how to use felting needles to apply different wool textures to their piece. Additionally finishing techniques will be offered.
Each painting will be completed and framed in class. Frame is included.
All materials needed for the project will be provided. Felting boards, needles and tools will be on loan.

Knit Your First Colourwork Mittens
Learn how to knit your first pair of colourwork mittens in this four-session workshop with Nancy MacMIllan. This is a great project if you were afraid to knit with more than one colour or you’ve always wanted to know how to knit mittens. Just in time for Christmas gift giving.
Students will learn cast on, cast off, decreasing, thumb insertion & shaping, colourwork and two handed knitting.
This workshop has four sessions.

Needle Felt a 3-D Turtle
Turtles mean different things to many cultures. The turtle is a symbol of the world and the earth. Its symbolism refers to survival, stability, longevity and protection, with the shell always on its back.
In this workshop, you will learn how to needle felt a turtle from wool and decorate its shell. There will be examples and designs to pick from for the shell. You will be provided with everything you need to complete 1 turtle. The turtle is approximately 6” long. We look forward to welcoming you to this needle felting workshop.

Join Wendo and learn the art of needle felting in this fun, beginner-friendly workshop.

Needle Felted Sheep Ornament
Create your own whimsical little sheep using the art of needle felting. You’ll learn how to shape and sculpt wool fibres to create a sweet sheep ornament, then add the finishing details to bring your woolly friend to life.
This beginner-friendly workshop requires the ability to perform repetitive motion with the hand, wrist and arm, as well as the ability to hold a small object.
This is a single 2.5-hour session. No equipment is needed.

Fibrescape
In this one-day workshop, you’ll learn how to felt alpaca fibre and wool onto a piece of silk to create a piece of art that can be framed or made into a decorative cushion. We’ll supply all the materials you need, including a variety of colours and materials. Bring a photo for inspiration, if you’d like! At the end of the workshop, you’ll have made a one-of-a-kind piece of art.

Nuno Felting Scarf

Felting Soap and Dryer Balls
Learn techniques in wet felting and needle felting as you make two useful household items:

Dryer balls are an eco-friendly alternative to disposable dryer sheets. They are hypoallergenic and help decrease drying time, which saves energy and money.

Handcrafted soap lasts longer when it’s felted—and it provides light exfoliation!
