We offer scheduled and on-demand hands-on craft workshops at our shop in Merrickville (318 St. Lawrence St. Merrickville, ON). Please note classes are non-refundable and cannot be re-scheduled or transferred to another class. Our facilitators customize, purchase and prepare the materials for each participant in advance. If you would like to send someone else in your place, we will need you to provide their name and email address 24 hours before the class scheduled time.

Ukrainian Easter Eggs (Pysanky)

Ukrainian Easter Eggs, Pysanky
February 8th or 9th
Workshop Fee: $45.00
Time: 1:00pm - 4:00pm with lunch break. Bring your own or pop out to one of our local spots.
Instructor: Corinne Côté

Learn to make beautiful "Pysanky". You will learn to d decorate an egg with traditional Ukrainian folk designs using a wax-resist (batik) method. We will supply all the materials you need. At the end of the workshop, you'll have two unique Easter eggs that you'll be proud to keep forever or to gift.

Felted Easter Eggs

February 9th

In this workshop, you will learn to we felt an Easter Egg. You will also be given 2 blank felted eggs to dry needle felt with your chosen design. This workshop is being offered just in time for you to make some for Easter gifts.

Snuggly Neck Warmer - Basic Knitting Workshop (3 Week Class)

February 13th, 20th, 27th
Workshop Fee: $95.00
Time: 1:00pm - 3:00pm with 1 hr. lunch break. Bring your own or pop out to one of our local spots.
Instructor: Catherine Johnson

This piece is knit on circular needles. You will learn how to cast on and off stitches, knit in the round, as well as basic knit and purl stitches. Beautiful luxurious alpaca wool and pattern will be provided. One 16" size 6mm circular needle required and will be available to purchase at the course.

Winter Magic

This is an oh so easy wet felting project using a resist. It is a great beginner project for learning how to wet felt a bowl or a vessel.
We will work with various fibres to create your own unique design for a truly simple and striking outcome. Add soap and water + a little agitation and watch magic happen! The result will be an expression of your individual taste. Add a battery operated candle to illuminate your fire bowl from the inside out creating a soft warm glow.

Blue Snow

Deb Alexander's original design is a non-Christmas winter scene that celebrates the calm of the New Year.
Participants will learn to create relief on their wool painting by felting layers onto their piece. Deb will also show people how to finish their work with a triple blanket stitch border.(optional)
Wool, felted pad with image traced on, felting needles and embroidery cotton supplied.
Felting brushes on loan and can be purchased in-store for future projects.
Frames are not included but samples of options will be shown.

Deb Alexander will teach participants to felt over a pipe cleaner frame (wire armature) to create this bendy little sheep. People will be given the choice of how they want to dress their finished pet, but tiny scarves will be available in a variety of colours.
All materials provided.
Felting brushes will be on loan and can be purchased in-store for future projects.
Maximum of six people. Four hour class. Break for lunch/coffee

Create a Magical Fairy Garden

In this workshop, you will create a magical fairy garden. All materials are included and you will have a nice variety to choose from. Glorious Garlands

Learn how to felt shapes using mini cookie cutters as molds. Deb Alexander will teach participants to create shapes and wool balls to be strung on a jute cord.
A variety of wool colours and cookie cutter shapes will be available, making each garland unique.
Cookie cutters will be on loan, as well as felting brushes (which can be purchased in-store for future projects).
Maximum six people. 4 hour class.

Take Back Fridays: Time to Make

Come on in out of the cold and bring your favourite wooly project. This will be a special informal get together for fibre enthusiasts. The focus is on making, sharing, experimentation and practice and, of course, having fun.
Grab any craft project you're currently working on and join us.

Thrummed Mitten Knitting Workshop (4 Week Workshop)

Mar 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th
Workshop Fee: $115.00
Time:  1:00am - 3:00pm with lunch break. Bring your own or pop out to one of our local spots.
Instructor: Catherine Johnson

During this class you will learn how to make thrummed mittens. This unique design originated in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia, designed for fishermen who needed to keep their hands warm. It involves incorporating stubs of robing wool in the mitts to add an extra layer of warmth.

Price includes instruction, patter and wool (alpaca) needed to complete one pair of mittens. Some knitting will be required at home to complete the project.

Requirements: Must be comfortable with casting on, knitting, purling, increasing, decreasing and knitting in the round on four needles. 

Additional supplies required: 3.5mm and 4.0mm double pointed needles, stitch holder, darning needle and tape measure or ruler. These will be available to purchase at additional cost or you can bring your own.

Furry Friends

Catherine will guide participants (beginners welcome!) as they "paint" with wool onto a 5"x 7" felt background.
Drawn image background will be prepared in advance by Instructor.
First time felters will learn how to use felting needles to apply different wool textures to their piece. Optional embroidery finishing technique instruction will also be offered.
Each finished painting will be completed and framed in class. (Frames provided)
All materials needed for the project will be provided.

 Fibrescape

Fibrescape, felted art made from alpaca wool

In this one-day workshop, you’ll learn how to felt alpaca fibre and wool onto a piece of silk to create a piece of art that can be framed or made into a decorative cushion. We’ll supply all the materials you need, including a variety of colours and materials. Bring a photo for inspiration, if you’d like! At the end of the workshop, you’ll have made a one-of-a-kind piece of art.

Nuno Felting Scarf

Nuno felted scarf

In this beginner class in Nuno felting, you’ll learn how to bond alpaca fibre into a sheer silk gauze to make a beautiful, lightweight scarf. We’ll supply all the materials you need. By the end of the workshop, you will walk away with a totally unique finished scarf.

Beginner Knitting

Tri-Loom Workshop for Beginners

Felting Soap and Dryer Balls

Learn techniques in wet felting and needle felting as you make two useful household items:

  • Dryer balls are an eco-friendly alternative to disposable dryer sheets. They are hypoallergenic and help decrease drying time, which saves energy and money.

  • Handcrafted soap lasts longer when it’s felted—and it provides light exfoliation!

 We’ll provide all the supplies you need, and you’ll walk away with three dryer balls and a bar of felted soap.
